Need Advice for Detailing Supplies
So my car is red, and from what I understand that is the hardest color to deal with. I have some (what I think?) is oxidation on my hood. It's lighter than the red paint everywhere else, and on the outsides of the hood there are these weird whitish streaks. In the sunlight, you can actually look at the car and tell that the hood is different. The front bumper is also losing it's shine and has some damage. I have some swirls in the paint too.. So I need your help!
This is what I have so far.
Porter Cable 7424 Kit from Tropi-Care (have to support such a cool guy
)http://www.tropi-care.com/Porter_Cab..._p/tcpc-10.htm
Kit comes with:
Buffer
3 pads: Orange (cutting/polishing) white (light cutting) and blue (final finishing)
Lake Country backing plate
Two "reversible blue microfiber polishing bonnets for residue removal"
I also figured that Menzerna Intensive Polish is also what I would need here, right?
That's about where I stand, is there anything else I should have, or that I need?
Be ready to spend a LOT of time working with the Menzerna. It is worth it, but the process done properly will take a lot of time. Hood alone may take an hour. Really need to work it in and let the product, pad, and heat do its thing.
Menzerna is top of the line though, and should product GREAT results.
I have no problem with it, but why does it take so long? Am I gonna have to put the polish on the hood, and work it in for a long time? Or am I gonna have to work it in, buff it off, work more in, and over and over. or is it moreso just working it in for a long time?
I can't wait to get this stuff, i'm asking for it for xmas lol.
Scratch resistant clear coats while being harder to scratch take longer to remove scratches and other blemishes. For these surfaces, I suggest the Menzerna SIP.
Once you're satisfied with the correction results, you can remove the residue using a solution of isopropyl alcohol and water. Be prepared as Menzerna does leave a fair amount of dusting while working. If there is no micro-marring, you can proceed with your wax or sealant application stage. On darker colors, any resulting haze from buffing can be removed with a finer polish such as Swirl Cutter and a white polishing foam pad.
I like to use our Sealant xP for lighter colors or either one of our new Carnauba Cremes for darker colors to give that additional depth and glow.
