Need suggestion on what tire size i should get.....
i've got a question for you guys........
I am buying some boyd coddington smoothie 2 wheels (17X8F and 17X10R). What tire size should i get for the fronts (or do you think i should run 17X10 up front too?) And, what size Nitto DR's will fit best on the back??
thanks
Ryan

I'm running the Boyd Timeless 5's, and I have the 17x8's up front with a 245/45/17" Nitto. IMO, it looks GREAT. On the back I'm running 17x9.5's with 275/40/17" Nitto DR's. You could go with a 285 if you wanted as well, but a 275 would still look good.

When deviating from the stock tire setup you should consider the changes/differences in tire height. Here's a formula that I use to calculate tire height:
(tread width x aspect ratio) divide by 25 to convert from cm to inches for the sidewall dimension, x 2 + rim diameter = tire height.
Example: 245 x.45 = 110.25, 110.25/25 = 4.41, 4.41 x2 = 8.82, 8.82 + 17 = 25.82" tire height.
the height of a 275/40-17 tire would be: 25.8", making the 245/45-17 and the 275/40-17 a near perfect match.
As I understand it, if you have too great of a difference in front/rear tire height, ABS problems can crop up.

Re: Need suggestion on what tire size i should get.....
thanks for the info guys. I sent an e-mail to th wheel mnufacturer abou offset, and this is what they sent me....
The Smoothie 2 comes in 17x8 with 4" to 6.25" backspace and 17x10 4" to
8.25" backspace.
What do you guys suggest for back spacing? How about if i ran a 315 DR out back (how would tat look on 10 inch wheel?)?? Would i want a different backspace than if i ran 275's on the back?
I just dont want the tires to stick out past the fender. just a hair inside them woul be perfect.
Thanks
Ryan
