For the LS1,Simple Green straight, let sit for a few minutes then rinse. Don't use the high pressure car wash, just a normal hose. For the LT1, damp rags only, no spraying. I've heard it kills the Opti-spark.

I killed my front knock sensor by using Simple Green and water. Be Careful. There is a TSB out for people washing their motors and killing knock sensors.

We used a degreaser when we did it @ the dealer i worked for. But, be carefull...you can strip paint off of some surfaces w/ the solution if not mixed correctly.
Spray it on w/ a spray bottle, then let it sit, and spray it off w/ a garden hose. Simple Green is pretty good. But, yeah, i wouldnt go sprayin an LT1 w/ water, esp if you havent upgraded away from Opti-****

I WOULD NOT USE TOO MUCH SIMPLE GREEN.Simple green tends to eat aluminun if left on too long, I used to use simple green to clean the whole engine but wont now due to when I replaced my valley cover I found green corrotion on my valley cover from the simple green, also found it eating the aluminum around my PCM,I thought I sprayed it off competly too.Now I just wipe the motor down or use simple green only in small local spots and mosty use just plain old water to rince.I've been doing it this way and I't keeps my engine bay really clean.

Ok, I've had a leaking rear seal on my power steering pump for a while now, and my bay looks like a crap storm hit the bottom of my hood. Will those products cut that fluid? And what electrical places more specifially besides the fuse boxes, sensors and coil packs do i need to avoid if any?

I use a very hot very high pressure washer on all my engines they come out great I have had no problems doing it this way. But my coworker set off a sensor in his Neon doing the same thing I do. He has also pealed off paint witch I have never had happen. guess if your carful it should be fine.
