Default Chroming Alternator??

I know the alternator on an F-Body is below and out of site, but is it possible to take the "baskets" off and have them chromed??? The alternator on my 6Liter SS is right in plain view, and with all my polished stainless it looks out of place. Has anyone done this??

Yeah theres definatly a theme going...lol. I have my underhood mirrors, Polished GMPP intake, polished stainless coolant overflow, brake resevior, fuse box cover, and battery covers, and all fluid cap covers. My alternator is right in plain view and is just cast aluminum, kinda sticks out. So instead of polishing it, I was having my coil brackets chromed anyway so I was going to have it chromed as well. Just seein how much of a PITA it is to take apart.....lol

I had one chromed on my Trans Am. It was relocated up top for the twin turbo kit so i had to make it look nice. Here is a pic! It was a stock alternator, just chromed.....

Engine looks good, you should do the wire mod and hide some cables? Chroming the alternator makes it stand out if the other stuff isn't keep polished. If you're going to show your car chrome all the caps and covers and you have no maintenance.
Chroming the alternator looks great, you can buy them as well already chromed. I bought a 190 amp one since I run a couple of amps etc..

That engine appearance was 2 years ago, it changed from that, and now the car is gone... parted out and sold, haha. Thanks though for the advice!

Isn't it expensive to get **** chromed?? There's a guy around here that files/grinds em smooth and polishes with a huge buffing wheel. I'd think polishing would be WAY cheaper than getting it chromed. Of course, it looks sweet-*** either way!

Superman09, your bay looks great!

I was quoted for my alternator, coil brackets, and the bolts that hold the coils on the brackets about $150.00......I think thats somewhat reasonable considering the process you have to go through to chrome..eh?

PS - Superman ur ride looked pretty sick
