5/6 speed console in automatic
i can answer your questions since i have done this...
when i bought my pontiac lt1 6 speed swap, i was waiting to install the trans but got bored so i installed the top console piece (It was a direct swap for the top piece of my automatic console so you dont need to swap out the entire console). It fit like a charm and the boot didnt restrict the the operation of the shifter but the shape of the console does. I couldnt get the car into first gear
lost a race because of that too

Does anyone know where to get a **** like in that pic of the adapter, but maybe in black or red with Z28 engraving or something? I looked on there but only found that blue one.
How had of an install is that adapter? Any cutting or anything? Or pretty much plug and play?

^When it's in drive or any other gear except park you can knock it into a gear anyway.
So for that adapter, could I get almost any manual shift **** and it'll work? Like could I get a C6 shifter and it will fit?

lame idea. your car is an automatic, not a manual. what are you gonna say when someone looks inside of it and says "oh wow, its a manual, thats cool."? um, no... its an automatic...

some people like the position of the ash tray better as a means of mounting switches, or think that it looks alot cleaner with a boot, and some think that it might look stupid with just an aftermarket shift **** and no boot to match. Or atleast thats my view on it.
