Wouldn't work. T-top weather stripping (which is what this would use whether it be FULL targa conversion or just using this panel to replace t-tops) is molded differently...

You could piece it all together, make something else but in the end it would just be cheaper to buy t-tops and strip them of their hardware...

It's looking great Mark!! Can't wait to see pics of a CF completed. Bummer about the latching mechanism. I wish there was a way to remove the stockers and not have to break the glass. Do you think velcro will hold them down at 100mph on the freeway? lol

Well, got a couple of factory pieces to play with today I'm sure Mike will post a VERY INTERESTING video of that soon

Long story short though I still had to pay a stupid amount of money for broken t-tops because the yard charged for the handle, weather stripping, bracket, interior piece, etc... all as separate little charges. Aholes... Then again, I busted good tops in the yard and feel much better about it now

Why don't you build them so that the customer can take the mounts off there Ttops and attach them to the top with a mounting kit you can include. If the top requires us to ditch the T bar, then there is no reason for us to save the tops.

That's the plan. We'll offer them with the same option as the needles...

1) Just the top, I'll install hardware myself...
2) The top and YOU install my hardware, I'll mail it to you...
3) The top, you install my hardware, NO DOWN TIME (you pay a core that we refund when/if you send core pieces)...

Also, the second and third will have an option of paying extra for a headliner material (we can't put it on before the hardware is in place so it is not an option for part one).

As soon as I am back from Christmas vacation I should have a working top to test out and then chop up my car to make the complete kit (for those who want to go full retard, I mean targa )...

I think the main thing at least to me is that the top has the same quality and feel as a vette targa top. I don't wanna pay a grand for something, ditch my t top function and then have this thing break on me in 5 years and your long gone. If you know what I mean. I would check out a vette targa to get some ideas of a way to trim out the interior side of it.

Valid point. Chris' targa though was made the same way and it is going on 7-8 years...

For those going full targa, very true... For those just updating the look of their car and keeping the center bar but replacing the top with this, different story...

the price you said was 750 shipped. what do you think you get drop that price to if i send you 3 sets of t-tops? mine and couple others i have access to... let me know. the price sounds good, but a lower one sounds better, plus you'll be getting some hardware for a few more.

also, when/if you guys are doing a full targa conversion practice car, plase document the ENTIRE process so we have a good, accurate guide to follow. i'm really considering going full targa, so that would be great.

sorry if any of my questions are answered in the thread, i've looked through it a million times and i dont think they are, but right now i dont feel like backtracking again....its 1:15 in the morning. just trying to get my question out there real quick.

Hey Crimson! No worries, nothing you asked is repetition...

First of all, I can definitely work out a deal with you where your tops are worth "store credit" (in other words we agree on a price the tops are worth, you send them and the remainder of what you would owe for the top).

It just depends on condition of the pieces... Are the interior cover plates scratched? What color are they? Missing any parts (screws)? How's the weather stripping? Finally, is the latching mechanism (rods on the inside) rusted or in good shape?

I assume we'd only be getting two sets of tops from you since you would need one for your own car (correct me if I am wrong) and just to reiterate, $750 shipped is just for the top piece, no hardware.

That all being said, shoot me some pics of all the pieces you have to madelisle@yahoo.com and I promise to give you a price you are happy with...

Yeah, I'm sure there are multiple junkyards through out the country that have plenty of scratched up t-tops in their possesion.

That video cracked me up... glad to see you guys enjoying what you're doing.

Mark, how many sets of t-tops could it take to get enough 6LE store credit to get just the targa top? I can keep and use my own t-tops for it. Also, I'm assuming it would be ok if they were smashed to save on shipping?
