I'm not trying to thread jack but I wanna show you what I have been working on with LEDs. I have been making them for all the different tail lights for our 4th gens. These are some pics but I don't have pictures of them all yet. Also, remember I took these pictures with my camera phone.

I used a dremel with mine, i think thats a common thing to do. its nearly impossible to separate them, but you look at how all of us are making them, theres really no use for the rear part of the light.

How do you mount without the rear part?

actually, its Plexi that was heated to be formed, then i painted with rubberized paint. ABS is ideal, but i had trouble finding a sheet large enough.

You have officially ruined me. I now have a spare set of tail lights and running lights on the way for a full LED conversion. I'm going a bit of a different route than yours, but pretty much the same concept. I do have a few questions though if you can oblige...

1) Your LED's are round top right?
2) What color did you use for all the lights (brake, corner)?
3) What Mcd are the LED's you are using?

1) yes all the LEDs in the tail lights are round top, the front turn signals are flat top
2) for the front turn signals i used orange, rear turn signals i used white, rear brake lights i used red
3) 5000MCD on front turns, 15000MCD on rear turns, 15000MCD on rear brakes.

i would recommend as high as possible. i only got 5000mcd for the flat LEDs because only 1 or 2 sellers on ebay offers them.

Good info thanx!! I'm looking to get 5mm White Flat Top 20,000 Mcd LED's (ebay) for my full conversion. They will be used for all the lights. I'm hoping that'll bring the brightest color possible.

looks great. definitely need the entire brake region to light, or at least most.

why does your 3rd stay lit always? or is that the sun?

No, it is lit dimly. Apparently it is getting voltage all the time just not full until you hit the brakes. I should test mine with bulbs in it and see if there is voltage there just not enough to light the bulb.
