New side molding question

I had my car repainted years ago. (at least 7yrs ago) I am not sure if it is the exact same silver that I had. I remember looking at it, and thinking it looked a little different at the time. (it was not a problem, as the paint job was great in color and quality)

Is it standard to remove the side molding when painting? I want to remove mine, but afraid that it might reveal a line. I am thinking they should have removed it, but not really a paint expert. The shop seemed reputable, and has been around since the late 60's doing bikes and cars.

Im willing to bet it wasn't removed before it was painted.

it should have been but that doesnt mean that it was, theres only one way to fing out.

They, more than likely, painted over them, but that side molding on the side is easy enough to remove and replace. It just sticks on. give it a shot and see what it looks like.

Take off the tiny piece behind the door and check...its easy to put back, but I am betting they didnt take it off!

Yeah what you guys are saying is what my instinct told me. I am going to be getting the car repainted again in the future,(after body work) so this will not be a big deal I guess if it is visible. Even if it is different, it is still very close to the original color.

A good shop would have taken if off but like it was stated above there's only one way to find out! I doubt that you can call the body shop and ask.........
