I have owned like 6 pairs of drag radials and 6 pairs of dot / slicks....

Quick comments...

1) Stay away from bfg dr's. they suck in the rain, and last like 3000 miles on the street, the 1000 miles they are really bad for taking corners... car will kick out. i would only get bfg's if I was only running them at the track or wealthy.

2) Nitto dr's rock. they can last 8-15,000 miles, cut 1.5's, and drive great in rain. keep them at 25psi and you they will go 10,000 miles or more.

3) et streets will last 3000 miles on the street, but street driving will make them hard. they pick up rocks like crazy, don't tailgate someone on these tires otherwise you will get rock chips on your car. bad in rain, really dangerous above 30mph because you won't feel it kick out and you can't really steer out of it.

PSJ I disagree with you on the the BFG Dr's. I have 315/35/17 and they hook pretty damn good.I am only running 380rwhp but my Mxx3 pilots 315's would spin at the top of 1st and 2nd. In the rain my Bfg Dr's are also very good. But they do have a lot of sidewall flex. I have about 1k miles on them. I figure they will last about 3k.

I love Nittos for the street, period.

They hook like all hell on concrete..just do a good burnout in some mountain dew, back into the rubber, and you're off.

I had a pair of them on and the middles were mostly gone..drove in a rainstorm that had me going through a flooded out part of a street that had enough water in it to make me worry about my motor..and I got through it with them..I thought that was pretty damn good.

BFG's will hook at the track, but on the street mine were dangerous at 2500 miles, and 20 runs on them. I cut some 1.90's on them (98SS M6). But I was driving 55mph in hard rain and the car was hydroplaning... Same as ET streets at 25mph in hard rain. Car would not take corners either... car would kick out like I had bald tires on back.

WeatherGuy, im running 245/50/16 nittos and they dont hook up much from a stop at all. I am not putting down much power at all so I dont see why they are breaking loose so much. With 235 stock tires I could sometimes chirp 3rd with the converter and 3.73's, but with the dr's I cant even chirp second. But still all of first gear is basically no traction, if I roll into it the launch usually bogs down. I might put down as much rwtq as you with h/c and a 75 shot, but I wont be spraying off the line so if your 422 is holding up with 315 nittos on the street..that might be the way to go for me. Do your nittos hook up pretty well on the street, are they 17 or 15" rims? Anyone fender rolling or wheel well banging to make them fit? Thanks!

When it was warmer, and particularly on concrete, they actually hooked well. I had lots of fun leaving the toll boths on those things. Nothing like pulling a 0-90 on a highway in, say, 5.5 secs or so

I haven't had a chance to really test them out with the 422 since it has gotten a lot warmer since my car has been in the shop

Why run ET streets on the street? If you do, you might as well run full slicks. The ET streets are slicks that have the minimum (and I mean minimum) requirement to be DOT legal, which aint much. Sure you can drive to the grocery store on ET streets, I can drive there on ET Drags too. I strongly feel they ET streets shouldnt be driven on the street at all. The BFGs are not much better. The nittos will be the best choice for a true street/strip tire. McCrearys are an option for 15" rims (Im not sure if they make a larger diameter, they may) and are way better than Nittos at the track. They require a longer burnout and, thus, wear quicker. But, man do they hook. Being a bias ply tire, they will wrinkle just like a slick. They also are a full tread tire that are very soft and will bite like a pit bull on a pork chop on the street and track. Dirt trackers run these alot. Running ET streets on the street goes over bout like a terd in the prom punch bowl.
