I had the same thoughts as well, but haven't gotten that far. I figured you get only one chance to grind them down, so I figured I'd do the logo first and see how they looked, then decide if I wanted to go completely smooth. Hell, I may grind them smooth and polish them...

I'm just bringing this back up top. I've got the covers pretty much cleaned up, just doing a final sand and smoothing, I may lay down a primer just to see how much more sanding / smoothing I need to do. I pulled the FAST and started to sand that smooth as well.
My fuel rails came, as well as the hoses and fittings.
My big question right now is what color do I want to do. I've been leaning towards satin black, but have kicked around the idea of a metallic black to kind of tie in with the pewter metallic, but I'm not sure.
Something like this maybe...
I'm still going back and forth between rattle can and spray gun. I'll post some pics tonight.

Well, I've already been sanding off the Edelbrock logo as well as the raised lines.
I saw duplicolor has a textured mettalic black paint... I might try some and see how it looks. It sure would make it easier prepping the fast and covers.

Well, I'm getting closer....
I got my Nasty Fuel rails and polished one of them up real quick. I'll have both fully polished and spray them with a clear to keep em looking like that.
I finally got the coil pack covers ready for some paint...

Well, here's another update. Nothing installed yet, but I'm in no rush since the weather is still shitty around.
I decided to go with a black pewter metallic finish. I wish my whole car was this color. The pics are from the basement, so the lighting doesn't do them any justice.
I quickly realized that I need to grind down the coil covers a little more because you can still see the 3 fins.
Here's the FAST intake.... It's not done paint wise, this was just a quick coat. It'll get a few more coats for certain.
Here's the coil pack cover and you can see that I still need to smooth them down some more.

Well, the intake is painted, fuel rails installed, and took it out on the deck to take some pics...
Must be the camera settings, but I couldn't get the camera to truly capture what the eye sees. I'm sure the Canon digital SLR has some better settings for this type of thing, but I leave it on point and shoot.
So now I just need to finish grinding down these damn coil pack covers. Even using a grinder it's taking time. I've pretty much eaten into the disc that came with it, I might pick up a new disc to help speed up this process.

Well, I had a couple minutes today and was able to test fit both sides. The passenger side is going to be interesting. First the dipstick needs to be bent out of the way so some new way of attatching it to the cylinder head has to be done. Also, getting #8 and #6 plug wires connected will be fun as well. There literally is no room to see or reach #8 from the top, fortunately, I have a lift and can plug in #8 from the bottom.
I need to pick up some more paint and do some more finish sanding. I do not want to have to remove the passenger side after it gets bolted up.
Looking at the driver's side, I still need to decide what I'm going to do with the e-vap line as it won't fit under the coil pack cover.
