Default Someone Help - Is this car a real ss?
Im looking into buying a 2000 camaro ss, i just want to see if theres a way i can make sure its a actual ss and not a clone. It does not have the camaro ss dash plague but has the entire body kit and rims.
Any information would help alot

search for rpu codes. it will have the ws6 code. i think, but am unsure is ws6 is for the ws6/ss package. i know it is for the birds but not sure on the camaros.

look for wu8 in the rpo codes wu8= True SS and you can call slp with the VIN and they will tell you

I don't believe that all SS's had dash plaques.

If you have a picture of the engine bay, look for a power steering cooler.

Open the drivers side door and look for the code "WU8." Make sure the VIN number on the door matches the car, and he's not tryin' to trick ya.

check the code... the dash plaque had to be ordered from SLP, they didn't all have them..

it would still be easy to make a fake sticker

just get the vin, and call slp. they will tell you right away and you can get a piece of mind.

You can do that? Oh god, i'm paranoid now. I always used to think mine was fake because the paint on my hood is crappy so I felt like someone threw a WS6 hood on it. Now what O_O

a PS cooler doesnt necessarily mean a car is an ss only. it was purely just an option. my car has one, and its only rpo z28. just so you guys know.

lol. ya i was paranoid too when i noticed all my SS emblems were in the wrong spots and the car was painted, but i confirmed with slp and got all my official rpo codes from chevy and she's a real ss

It's not likely the door sticker is fake, that's unrealistic at best.
