Well, without those supports it'll be easier to wash under there! I'd consider doing it just for that reason! Looks like it's comming along nicely! I bet you'll be glad when it's finally finished and done with.

thanks man! had to pull the SS out of storage and into the garage, so until weather clears up and move stuff around to get the spoiler out to work on it, it's on hold. yeah it sucks to have been laid off, but i can address things ive put off because i didnt have the time before.

and just a heads up that dealing with all the un-employment paperwork is frustrating and not to mention a joke. one hardly ever gets a straight answer to questions, etc. its no wonder the government is all messed up. if they can't even communicate at this level, it's easy to see why we are in the mess we are currently in...

Post up some primer pics if you can... I'm thinking this would look pretty nice.

yes i realize that the next thing i need to address are the mounting points on the hatch. i will eventually get those removed and patched over as well. i also have a few more coats and some final sanding to do before the spoiler is ready to take paint.

it took some time to do, but i think i did some damn good work, with what i had to work with and doing some bodywork that i have not tried before.

the LT style SS spoiler is a different design. it doesnt have the integrated brake light like the Ls style,. also, the flair of the lip is lower than the Ls style as well. however, i know exactly what mean.

here are the pics for my iphone. we had time to do the hood as well. its an OEM hood from a '97 Ws6. you can see the previous condition of the hood in the pics on the 1st page. what you cant see is that there were a couple of chunks around the drivers side headlight that we had to patch. all and all, i think everything came out looking great.

here s a pic of the hood as i bought it:

I don't like it without the supports.

I think the main reason GM put it there was probably for looks. I don't know how much it would actually help out at high speeds.

I mean look at the SRT4 Neons. They have giant spoilers on them. This obviously wouldn't do a whole lot for a FWD Neon, but it looks err.. cool to some people I guess?

just doing something a little different that whats out there.

when you have extra parts and time, some people get creative. this isnt going to be some show stopper, or some drag queen, etc. at 139,xxx miles, why not work with what you got to be different. chances are only keen people will notice, and im ok with that.

I'd say no. Also, these spoilers are pretty functional (they are an upside down airplane wing, almost exactly), I bet without those supports it would flex and begin to crack the paint at least.

EDIT: That's what I get for skipping to the last page. Good work for sure! Any thoughts on lowering the spoiler some? Kind of like a cross between a Formula wing and a T/A?

I would love some kind of in-between TA spoiler/Firebird spoiler. IROC is the answer but next to impossible to find

Have you ever checked out Machams lip spoiler?

I love it!!! It looks so much cleaner without the supports! I may do it.
