Has anyone ever heard a high pitch whine through their speakers?
I have less than 250 miles on my new 2002 Z28 and from day one I noticed a whine from the rear speakers (I have the "wonderful" monsoon system). I talked to the service manager at the dealership and he said he gets to major complaints about these stereo systems:
1). a popping noise (mainly when the brakes are applied)
2). Whining sounds through speakers that increase in tone and pitch with engine RPMs
My problem is definitely the latter. He said he has tried everything in the past, but nothing will work. The main problem, he said, is the poor quality factory wires and he can't get any other wires except what is provided to him. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do? I have owned a couple of trucks with rather large and expensive stereos and I guess my only option is to go to my favorite stereo shop and see if they can track down the problem. I know the problem is minor, but man is it ever annoying.

In this case it sounds like it may be a bad ground to the stereo or one of he amps.
Very low reistance aftermarket wires can also cause this.
Turn on your A/C if it gets worse it is an indication that the ground is bad.
Sterling.

Definately check your ground wires.. i had the same problem with my monsoon sterio too.. its road noise. if all else fails.. get a component system in there.. thats what i did.. sounds much much better
