Front wheels-- uneven tread wear
My '98 Z has 28,800 miles and BF Goodrich 245's...50 series z-rated tires. problem is the treads are starting to wear out on the outside of each front tire. What causes this? normal? I don't want to rotate them with my rear tires...'cause the treads in the rear are much newer than the fronts. thanx

Mine are like that as well. I'm pretty sure its b/c I'm a mad man with how I take corners a lot.
If its both the outside and inside of the tire I think it means your tire in underinflated so go throw more air in. if just the middle is worn its overinflated.

Re: Front wheels-- uneven tread wear
My old tires did the same thing they went bald on the outer edges, I think its from taking the twisties a little fast.

If the wear is on the inside and outside of the tires then that generally underinflation (as said)
Cupping is usually worn shock..
wear on the outside is either aggressive driving or an alignment issue.. I try to have my SS aligned once a year.. its a good practice since all the jolting and bumps on the road can slowly knock you out of alignment.. and its cheaper than new tires..

Re: Front wheels-- uneven tread wear
Hey thanks for all of the answers folks!
Yes, the car has been alligned...but that was a few months ago. Funny thing, because the wear (outside of the tread only) started shortly after that allignment But I do tend to take turns pretty fast so maybe that's why too! Thanks again!
