Just be carful when replacing the Monsoon Speakers in our cars, the factory system is a 2 ohm system. Most aftermarket stuff is 4 ohm. I tried some high end Cerwin Vegas in my Convertible and turned my stereo into a "Chipmunk" stereo.

What "whine" are you talking about? I have a new Z28 (less than 500 miles) and my rear hatch speakers (I had to disconnect them it was so bad) and now my front door speakers both whine when driving or just revving the engine. Is this the same high pitch whine that you are talking about. Do all monsoons do this? Maybe I am just more annoyed by it more than others. I have had high end stereos in all of my vehicles and I can not tolerate any whining. Simply put, a brand new car should not have this problem. I want to know if there is a solution. I can't afford to get an all new setup right now, so chevy should have a way to remedy my problem besides just disconnecting all of my speakers.

The whine was from the mids distorting. Disconnecting the rear speakers did take out a little volume, but it made up for it with clarity. I replaced all four of the 2 ohm Infinity speakers in my Grand Cherokee with 4 ohm Infinitys, after the valet parking in New Orleans blew two of them. That was over a year ago, and they still sound great.

Default Replaced speakers.

Ok, this is just FYI. I replaced the factory Monsoon woofers in the back seat with a set of Infinity 652-Is that I had bought for another car and never installed. I found out the hard way that they were supposed to be woofers. I hooked the 652s up to the factory wiring and the tweets didn't work. I ended up runnin wires from the speakers in the hatch area under the side panels up to them and disconnecting the hatch speakers altogether.

For those of you in the DFW area, I have a DVC Toby Sherrif in the back which was tapped into the rear right speaker. I'm going to run the original back seat connections, which run through a factory low pass filter, to the sub.

Anyway the point is, replacing the speakers took out the mid "wine" that the monsoons had. and the system sounds excellent.

Hey...I have the same predicament. I have the top Infinity Kappas all throughout, including the 4"'s in the hatch. I was pissed when I realized the nice 3-ways I bought only produce bass in the back speakers. How does it sound without the hatch speakers and only the rear speakers? Is there a way to utilize the tweets in the back speakers and utilize the hatch speakers too?
