I would use the Mothers kit, for a lube, I would use a bucket of soapy car water, if you want you can fill up a spray bottle and spray as you go along.
All you really need to do is keep the surface very very wet and rub the clay bar back and forth with slight pressure. You'll see the clay bar picking up all kinds of dirt.
I cut the bar itself into four peices and use two on a really really bad car. Chances are you will induce swirl marks, it just happens, no big deal, you'll want to follow up with a nice polish such as 3M Swirl Mark Remover (part number 39009). From there seal your car with a polymer sealent or a nice wax and enjoy your new mirror.
