Question Switchback?

Just installed these today, switched them on and they stay amber & turn off with the headlamps on.
How do you get these to come on white?
I noticed in a video someone posted that they were amber until the headlamps were switched on & then functioned properly, ie stayed white until the turn signals were used.
Do I need to alter any wiring to get these to work?

Have you tried putting them the other way around? Maybe they have a polarity and will only work right if plugged in the right way.

Nope! Turning them doesn't make a difference.

I have switchbacks in my car. I love them.
They run Amber until your headlights turn on then they become white. When you activate your turn signal, with the headlights on they then blink amber and flash back to the white. When your lights are on(for example, at night) and you turn your car off, the lights will then come back on as white when you turn just your parking lights on or headlights. If you turn your car off when they are amber(for example in sunlight) then they will start back up as amber until your headlights are on. You also need the EL12 flasher. When you first put the LEDs in since they have a lower current draw, they will stay solid and not flash. Once you install the flasher they work fine, and it actually makes the flasher silent! NO MORE LOUD FLASHER!!!!

Hope this helps. I know it is kind of confusing.

I bought the EL12 flasher at the same time, but when the headlights come on my drls turn of completely, apart from the turn signals still work.
Is this something to do with the daylight sensor & something I need to bypass to keep them on?

I didn't have to do any sort of modding. I still run the auto lights too.

Unhappy

No go guys! Tried everything you said, even found another thread which says to scotchlok the light green with black wire, & yellow with black wire behind the stereo, together to defeat the light sensor.
That didn't even keep my drls on with the headlights, did this at night too!
Seems ever since my car was taken out of the US it doesn't wanna work the same as everybody elses, or maybe it's just me that's crap at doing stuff.

Looking again at that thread it mentions it's an auto headlight defeat & mentions nothing about DRLs, it seems hooking those wires up together switches off the DRLs altogether, which it seems alot of people want to do.
I want my DRLs on night and day, in white untill I signal.

I took a look at that, but it seems like it's joining A & B the same 2 wires I scotchlocked earlier.
I take it doing this should remove the signal, which shuts off the drls & keep them on? only it's not working for me

If this is what you want then switchbacks are not for you. These things run amber during the day(when the lights are off). You might want to look at just white bulbs. Probably a lot easier as well.

I know the headlights have to be on for them to be white, but when I turn my headlamps on, these should turn from amber to white! but they're just turning off completely.
I just don't wanna feel like I've wasted some cash on these & they didn't come with any instructions on how they should work.
The only thing I haven't tried is replacing the light sensor, under the dash with a wire.
Will that work or is that just the same as scotchlocking the wires at the DRL module?

Thumbs up

I'll try replacing the light sensor & see if that gets me anywhere.
Thanks for the help anyway, guess I'll figure it out eventually.

I did the auto light disable from the site I linked and it disabled the auto light feature but I kept my DRL's. Switchbacks are amber and turn white when you turn the lights on. They will then flash amber and white with the headlights on. Good luck in trying to figure things out.

Got it figured out!
Some ****, cut the brown wire to the DRLs before I picked my car up.
Probably so I couldn't use them on UK roads, so I just soldered them back together & walla! White lights.
Thanks WhiteBird00 for the help.
