I have an LED in place of the regular bulb, but I don't have any pics. It's a nice, clean, white light, but it loses it's brightness when you put it into the little socket that it locks into. I'd recommend buying a white LED bar and splicing it into the factory wires if you want a bright plate light.

you could just make your own like i did. i was going to buy one from ledvault but thought it had too many leds so i made one with 12 instead of 24 or 30 that the ledvault one had. when i finished the 12 was still too many so now i cut it back to 6 which is enough to light the whole plate but not over bright, little brighter then stock tho. here is a pic of what the 12 looked like, ill have to take a pic of what it looks like now with just 4.

You can also get flexible weatherproof LED strips from oznium.com, I've bought a few things for my DD from there.

I just had a single LED bulb that I plugged into the socket but like a poster stated above, as soon as it goes into the clear cover, it looses its brightness. Im still currently looking for something new....

Yeah you pretty much just gotta get an LED tube/strip thats waterproof preferably, cut the power/ground wire off from the stock bulb harness, and splice them into the LED strip and then just mount it above the plate. I'll do it eventually!
