Default headlight cleaning

Just wondering if yall could help me out with this. I know I need like 400 grit all the way up to 2000 grit from what I have heard. But is there a write-up already done about how to clean off all the gunk from your headlights. If so can someone point me towards it ... if not can someone please tell me the procedure for it. Thanks.

Try this. https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...oday-pics.html

I just did mine on a lincoln and it turned out great. I went to autozone and bought the kit and the damn thing worked great.

I've done this on several cars. Each time I only used 1000 grit, nothing else. Basically put some water with a little dish soap in a spray bottle, cause you'll be wetsanding. Constantly wet everything as you go. Sand in side to side motions, don't go in circles. If their really hazy, you'll notice that when you start sanding, the water will look yellowish. That's from the yellow plastic your sanding off. Keep sanding until you see that now white/clear suds are dripping from the sandpaper, that means you've reached clean plastic.

Then use some plastic polish, I used System One polish. Some people say Novus (spelling?) and there are some at auto stores too. You can do it by hand or with a buffer. I used a buffer and it came out like new.

edit: Found some System One videos that may help ya.

With wetsanding (badly oxidized): http://polishandwax.com/videos/resto...sh-512kbps.wmv

98 WS6 told me about System One a few months ago so I figured I'd give it a tru. I used it on my sisters '01 Passat, which was solid yellow. I wish I would have taken pictures because the difference is amazing! I wet sanded with 1500 grit then poilished with a buffer.
