Default Newest Appearance Mod: A Wrecked Trans Am

Yup guys, it was inevitable. A young guy in a T/A is bound to screw up. Today, my friend Kermit and I were going out to Rivergate, I was coming down I24 and got off at the Old Hickory Blvd. exit. I was at the stop, and turning left onto the main street. I didn't have traction control on and there was a light drizzle that I didn't think anything of. I turned left, the back end slid out, and BOOM!!! Head on into the guardrail at about 10-20mph. Good news though, the guardrail was OK. We hit head on and then the back end damn near slid around and hit too but it stopped just short of it thank God. Nobody else was involved so that's good, just a single accident covered under my collision coverage, more on that later.

Damage to Kermit and myself: some knots on the shins where they hit under the dash. Collarbone is a little sore from the seatbelt. The airbags didn't deploy. Damage to car: Headlight covers popped off, front bumper is scraped up bad. Hood looks like a taco, bent up pretty bad. Both front fenders are cracked. The engine is OK, not a single leak. I drove it home from the accident so it's completely driveable. Basically I just need a new front clip and maybe some minor work, and I'll need a new hood. So basically I've got a change of plans. I'm still getting the lowering springs and shocks, and all the other suspension stuff to make it work as planned. I was wanting a torque converter, no converter for me this summer, and after this I don't even know that I'd want one. There is a good chance that I won't be able to do the 3.42 gears that I had planned to either.

Past all that, I'll be working and saving my *** off to cover the extra insurance cost this is going to net me. I am going to get a Raptor hood out of it though and get the front end repainted of course, but that's about the only good news. No telling how long the car will be out of commission. I hope I can have it out of the shop before the dyno day the club has planned, May 18th, but we'll just see. I called insurance and reported it immediately after it happened, I'll just have to cover the $1,000 deductible and they will pick up the rest. I'm really scared as to how much my insurance will increase, hopefully I'll be able to keep the damn thing. Anyways, I took alot of pics and they are getting developed right now, I'll have pics up by tonight. I'm not in the best of moods now so I'll get on later and put those pics. Later guys.

I did't exactly nail it full throttle, but I did take the turn kinda fast, like I do when it's dry outside. That coupled with the rain, and the fact that there are some small bumps in the road, the tail went out and I couldn't save it. I countersteered and lightly feathered the throttle but hit head on into the guard rail. In retrospect, I should have turned with the spin, did a donut, and wound up sitting in the middle of the road. Oh well, live and learn, I get a Raptor hood out of the deal though, so that's one good thing

Sorry to hear that man! At least the guardrail can't sue you Man, now comes the insurance costs And it sucks when your modding plans fall apart...

That's not that bad, your going to need a new bumper, hood and panels.

Red paint is easy to match.

Worst thing there is layering all that Zaino.
