when you removed the molding, is there some sort of glue residue crap you needed to remove under it? if so what did you use? thanks. ive been wanting to do this for a while but dont want to start tearing crap off my car without knowing what im doing.

there is glue but i was able to get 95% of it off with my thumb. then use goo gone or whatever.

how did you go about wet sanding it i took mine off and one side had been repained but i never put them back on cause i hate how they look. just seeing what process you went through

Yeah, 95% will just roll off with your thumb....but if you heat it up with a heat gun (or blow drier) 99% of it will roll off. Then I just use a clay bar to get whats left off. I have done 4 of my cars and there is nothing to it!

This car, my Firehawk and lilhotrod96's 96 WS6 all had paint lines. I just took 1000 grit paper and wet the area well. Sanded the line until I couldnt feel it...then switched to 1500 and wet sanded it until I couldnt see it...then wet sanded with 2000 until all the sand lines were gone. Then buffed it out with rubbing compound and then used Zaino on it. Nobody can ever tell there was a paint line there!

It was a nice show...the host club (Vets with Vettes) allowed their cars to compete which IMO is BS but it was still a good show. Cecilia and I had a wonderful time. I got one of the big trophies for "Best Engine".



We will be at the Athens show next weekend, so try to make it out!
