Will changing the head unit in the monsoon system make a difference?

Not really. You cannot tell the difference between two cd players. Now if you get a head unit with allsorts of gizmos you can make sound very different. Remember different does not always mean better.

What I meant was that changing the HU alone will not IMPROVE the sound. The weak point of the system is the amp and speakers.

So what is the best setup for improving/replacing stereo components on a monsoon? Hate to lose the steering wheels controls.

Very Good Question.....

Can we limit the components to something not requireing a "speaker box" sitting in the back seat or something taking up half the rear deck space? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" />

Use the 4 channel to power a sets of components and the 2 channel bridged to power a 10" sub in a stealth box. this will give you a nice everyday setup. If you buy an aftermarket HU w/ an infrared remote you can buy an adapter that lets you keep you steering wheel controls.

BTW this is just a siggested setup for nice clear sound, not competition. If you wanna go all out this is not the setup you want.
