Help me choose new bulbs
#2
Just spend a little bit more and get an HID kit, that's what I did and am very pleased. My buddy has the silverstar bulbs and they are much better than stock, but HID kits have come down in price a lot so I would lean that way more.

my silverstars would burn out ever 6-8 months and for $55 a pair it just wasnt worth it to keep buying them
i purchased a hid kit for only a little more than what a set of silverstars costs. the hid kit was 2-3x brighter than the silverstars ever were
check out www.ddmtuning.com and get a 9006 hid kit.

SilverStart bulbs are overpriced. Although they perform a little better than regular bulbs, certainly not enough of an improvement to warrant the huge price difference.
Here are some alternatives:
(not in any particular order)
Osram Night Breaker
Philips X-treme power +80
Phillips VisionPlus +50
Osram Hyper
Sylvania XtraVision
GE NightHawk
HIR
Of that list, HIR would be the brightest.
Here is some info on HIR:

Correction... I just looked at Sylvania's website. The Silverstar bulbs are not any brighter than their XtraVision which cost a lot less. They have the same lumen output. The only difference is that the SilverStar bulbs have a coating to make the light look whiter.
