Default Custom console

Here's the idea: Custom 69 Camaro like console made to accept our E-Brake, and four round gauge pods in the stock location. I think the separation of our dash and console would look nice... more muscle car like. Here are some pictures from Reggie Jacksons 69 Camaro. Try to imagine something along those lines, but inbetween some racing seats inside a 4th gen.

Something along these lines would be sweet IMO, and I think it could be made to flow with our interior if it was done right.

Might I add that this would completely put an end to the gauge mounting crisis for 4th gens?

Since the little cubby hole/cig lighter/cup holder area would be gone completely, there should be room for some gauges. If there werent any room, then the console could just end right in front of the shifter, and we could then go really musclecar and add the ol' three gauge cluster to the bottom of the dash... like every musclecar and hotrod has had added.

Maybe our pal 6litereater could make this happen...

Okay, here is the link to the actual console pictured above:

http://www.rickscamaros.com/product....dept%5Fid=3446#

I wonder if there is a classy way to modify it to fit under our dash and to incorporate our ebrake? Time for me to learn how to fiberglass stuff!

I need to go measure, but I doubt that 4 gauges would fit infront of our shifter, but two might. Still, a slimmer and less playschool console would be nice.

It could be done but way more simple to just buy a console plate...

Its not so much about the gauges for me, more about the simple and kinda retro design. The idea came to me while I was invisioning my car being put on a serious diet, and as I tried to invision the interior I just couldnt place the stock console (even though its really not that heavy) still there... but at the same time I don't want an open hole there and just a shifter climbing out of the carpetless tunnel. At first I was trying to think of a simple way to cover up the exposed shifter, and then the idea of a custom, low-profile console started to apeal to me. The stock console is tall! I think if I could make a console that hugged the tunnel better then I could get the "open" look that I like (seperation of dash and console). I was happy with the idea of a 3-gauge mount placed under the climate controls, but the idea of some console gauges seemed cool, and retro. It could be a total disaster, or it could turn out really sharp. I appreciate the comments!
