Default Question about door panels

Alright I took out the vinyl inserts on my door panels and dyed them red to match my car. I put them back on the doorpanels by simply glueing them back. I don't like that at all and I know that people are going to want me to do theirs as well. Does anyone know of a good way to put them back on the panels with out glue? lol.

How/where did you glue? Are you referring to the mounting posts that you had to cut to remove the inserts?

I followed this dis assembly to recover the centers of my door panels with silver cloth.
http://www.lastofthebreed.com/Instal.../DoorPanel.htm
Except that instead of re-melting the posts, I used a blob of LockTite Plastic Epoxy on each post and kept some pressure/weight on the panel to hold it together until the epoxy hardened. I didn't use contact cement for the whole thing either, only the edges that get folded over so that I didn't get any glue bleeding through the cloth. I used some "carpet tape" also around the edge that doesn't get folded over to help hold things in place.

The epoxy has held fairly well for a while (few years) except for a a few places on the driver's side door where it let go and the panel was starting to separate. To remedy this, I used some appropriately sized screws and washers (I forgot size) on the round hollowed out posts behind the armrest (most still had a top layer that I had to drill a pilot hole though) and some thin screws diagonally through the flat upper tabs.

Sorry, I didn't take pics of this updated mounting method. Its definitely better than epoxy or glue.

Put thin screws diagonally through the tabs. I think that is what I ended up doing there. I don't remember the length, probably 3/4in.
