Default Tail light blackout

Hey everyone-

i was looking at getting a tail light blackout for my '00 bird, but then realized i wouldn't really like it sticking out (not flush) with the rest of the car.

is there a blackout that wraps all the way around the lights so it doesn't look like it's sticking out? Or is there another good method to darkening the tail lights?
I've seen some really cool pics of people's cars with the dark tail lights and want to look into doing it...but i don't want it to look dumb.

any help?
thanks.

You can always pay someone that works in window tint to actually tint the tail lights, headlights or anything else you wanted!

i'm going to check out the night shades and see if any of my local stores carries it.

i never thought about having the window tint guys look at them. I went around town to check into doing that too and doing the tail lights never crossed my mind!

for those that have done the night shades...

did you have to do any work afterwards? i had another guy tell me he once they were sprayed he sanded them with 1000 grit and then did a shot of clear. I've never used this stuff before.....what do you think?

after doing some thinking and viewing some other's pics, i just decided to blackout the cener section.
i actually kinda like the dark red honeycomb lights with the dark red side lights....kinda breaks it up on an all black car.
i think i'll leave it this way for now and see if i can get some matching dark red paint for the calipers. if not, i might end up going all black. but for now, at least the "problem" area is fixed.

Clear with a bit of black mixed in worked the best for me when I did my Cobalt. I didn't really like the way the niteshades worked. It was pretty hard to get it consistant. Maybe I just didn't do it right.

I put covers on, I dont mind the look actually as I think it looks great. However I dont know how much light is actually comming through. I think Ive almost been rearended twice.

Does enough light come through these? I mean can people really see my tails when I brake ? At night I can see them easily being visible but what about the day? anyone else know whats up? am I just being too cautious.

Sorry for the slight thread jack.

I suggest niteshade. Mainly because I can promise you that you can spray it intil it gets really dark, and you can still see lights through. Make sure to follow one of the write-ups as far as sanding. Plus lots of clear coat helps...

I niteshaded mine , real easy, wet sanded the tail light with 1000 grit then stepped down to 1500 grit making it a satin finish, then sprayed the Niteshade with three coats then let it dry, and lighty wet sanded it with 2000 grit to remove any dust, then cleared coated with Duplicolor spray paint in the can from Advance Auto and wet sanded it with 2000 grit and buffed with clear coat polish ,that i use on my car.
