How to "diffuse LEDs"

How to "diffuse LEDs" I installed a LED into my dash last night for my toggle switches.. Its all hidden and the squish dash hides everything EXCEPT for the fact that the LED has more of a straight beam instead of a diffused light that will spread over the switches... any coating, paint or substance I can paint over the LED with to get it to diffuse?
they make wide angle led's but they are replacement bulbs like a 194, im not sure what you replaced though are you talking about the security light on the dash??
to help disperse the light better i have used plexi before it travels through it similar to fiber optics, the edge of the plexi that is not clear and scratched where it has been cut will catch the light for a wider angle, but not knowing which light you have replaced i dont know if thats an option

Ill probably do the wax paper idea. You cant see the LED unless I turn it on.. I did some googleing and with the write wording or words I found out can can sand the LED and get it to do that.. I sanded the hell outta it but its a nice dam LED so its still straight as an arrow for the most part.
I bet superglue will do it as well because it will fog the hell outta it if I put a nice smear mark over it... It looks like the red bulbs that are in the side of the doors so it looks completely stock to the untrained eye.

No, I installed a LED over my toggles switches where the TCS would be on a trans am(dont have tcs). It was shining straight down on to the ashtray lid(a4) instead of shooting light everywhere around the switch.. cant really tell what is doing right now.. way tooooooo bright.
another thing you can try is hot glue. its easy to work with and it can kinda get the same effect. ive done alot of led's on the old xboxes. i used wax paper and hot glue both.
