Default Cleared tailights on firebird

I remember seeing people do this a few years ago when I still had my Z28. Well now the look I'm going for on my formula will be light-years better if I can clear the taillights as opposed to blacking them out. Does anyone know how to go about this? I can't even find pictures of this done anymore...

put them in the oven for 10-15 mins to soften the glue
take them apart

remove the red piece thats inside

then epoxy them back together

It's that easy, seriously? LOL. Any idea what a good temp would be? 350-400? or lower? Any suggestions on a good epoxy to put them back together with?

While were at it.. opinions. Car will be a darker version of daytona gray pearl.
Clear or tinted tails/markers? I'm thinking clear will give the best effect.

If your car is a dark color then don't get clear corners. Keep them red.

The color is sort of a combination of these two. I have one spare tail light I can bake to clear, and it's faded nearly to black so I can sit it on there and see which I prefer for a final decision, just looking at how to do this and a general idea of what others think too cause I'll likely do a few car shows too this summer

Just FYI as far as I know, it only works on the lt1 lights and not the honeycomb 98+

yes ls1 tails can not have the red separated, and honeycomb > cleared.

I kind of feared that.. I would definately rather keep the newer tails than go to LT1 tails cleared. Smoked it is.. Guess I'll throw the darker tail light on to get an idea of stock or tinted first though.

Thanks guys!
