hey guys with the LT1 camaros? have you taken the fake hood scoops out of the hood and cut the back out so its an actual working hood scoop? i just finished mine. took me about 2 hours other then painting them. a dremel a file (round and flat)and sandpaper i shouldve laid some bondo over them first but i was planin on spraying the car soon before i blew the motor so they wouldve came off and been done right. im sorry i dont have pics i will try and get them posted today.

It still wouldn't direct the air in the needed places. The air intake is on the front of the driver side of the car. The only thing I can see you'd benefit by doing this is just allowing heat to actually escape.

They actually sell kits to replace the CAI and use a Scoop.
Sounds to me like it has no air routing on the hood since it was non functional to begin with.
OP, did you fab up a new intake to go with it?

The OP's idea will help move hot air out of the engine bay, which will add some power, but not much. I think it looks good though, I always thought it was stupid to have fake holes.

I see where your coming from, but the air vents on a stock Camaro hood would be to the sides of the air box. The airbox you posted is from a stock Camaro SS, so it would still need a functional SS Hood to have a functional Ram Air.

I have actually had this idea before, but was too scared of ******* it up. I'm glad someone finally did it.
Now that we know how to do this...I might actually do this tonight.
And if i do, i'll post some pics too.

hey Johnny its really simple man. i had a roto zip made the basic cut then took a dremel to smooth it out and actual found a sounding bit big enough and just used the to make the corners. i think it turned out pretty decent then obviously the basic sandpaper and again i would have used some bondo or glazing putty to smooth it out. but i just sprayed it.
Speed Freak i had the vents out of the car for about two weeks looking at them cause i really wanted to do it. but i was afraid of ******* it up and it saw LOTS of rain and no problem at all.
and to everyone about the performance and whatnot about it i did noticed a minor add just cause my motor ran about 20 degrees cooler and its pretty cool sitting at a red light watching all of the heat escape out of the hood. lol im glad i did it. but the shitty part is i snapped my crank about two weeks ago and i just got rid of the car yesterday so now any camaro i get thats gonna be ther first thing i do to it.
and to throw it out to anyone who is afraid to do it. send me the pieces 20 bucks and enough to cover shipping back to your door and i will do them in a weekend. paint and all and you can slap them on your car.
THE PROBLEMS::: the only problem i noticed is if you look at the one picture you can see where the brackets come down from the hood. i was thinking about just spraying them black or figuring out a different way to mount them to the hood
thankyou all for the feedback i loved it and would recommend it to everyone to do it.
