Default Engine appearance questions

I'm planning to relocate the driver's side air hose underneath the shock tower. In the picture attached, I show where I want to drill the hole. Is there any risk of structurally weakening the tower by drilling here? Where else have people drilled the hole on their car? And yes, I'm keeping the air system...I live in CA and the emissions people around here are dic*s.

Also, I want to replace some of my pulleys, but can't figure out what the (2) little pulleys between the A/C and the crankshaft pulleys are.

What? No one knows what these pulleys are, or they just don't want to say...

honestly i would take out the air system, just disconnect it before the pump so you can easily plug it back when you need to pass smog or something. it makes it look so much nicer without it.

Okay...

so I disconnect it at the air pump. What about the rest of the hose(s) connected to the engine. I'd have to take out those, too. And what about setting off any codes?

yup you can take those hoses out as well and get some plugs. it won't set off any codes as long as you leave the pump in. the pump will still turn on and your car won't know the difference if the tube is connected or not

I just did this. I drilled my hole below the metal triangle piece so it would be on a flat surface. I had to add some heater hose to get it to fit. I basically did the !wire mod but on the driverside. I think I used a 1" ID grommet and a 1-3/8 hole saw
