installed new shifter (pics inside)
i got tired of seeing the ugly looking stock A4 shift **** so i decided to change it. i bought the A4-M6 shift **** adapter off of thunder racing ($21) and bought the **** off of ws6store.com ($30). it took honestly all of 5 minutes, very easy for such a drastic change in appearance. i think i'm still gonna cut down the shift lever, but not right now. here's the pics and a little step by step detail.
1. locate the staple facing the front of the car that holds the shift **** in place, pry it out with needle nose pliers/small flathead.
2. this is what the shift lever looks like without a ****, the metal sleeve and inside is the plastic shift actuator.
3. the adapter slips over the lever and only fits one way so just twist it around until it fits in place. there are two small hex head screws that need to tighten around the plastic part, it takes an alan wrench (2 metric)
4. **** slides over the adapter, make sure you have both screws tight enough that they are flush with the adapter otherwise the **** won't fit all the way. finished product!

Couldn't positively tell you yes/no, gotta check the shifter/****. The handle has to be able to fit over the adapter and thread on. If it's a whole new shifter, I don't know if the adapter would fit over the shaft.
Haha I said shaft.

I posted the wrong site to get the adapter, sorry.... It's afterthoughtsauto.com, and I got the **** on ws6store.
And yes, all you do now is push the ball down, it does the same job as the button on top of the stock ****.
