Default To Berger or not to Berger?

I have a '99 NBM Z28 and i cant really decide whether to do the Berger panel or not. saw it on an actual Berger car and i think it looks pretty good, just want some opinions on what you guys think about it on this color? (also thinking of getting some stainless inserts) also, if i did do it, whether to go flat or gloss black.

opinions, pictures all welcome and wanted.

thanks.

Well, I have yet to meet a Camaro with the berger mod that doesn't look half-assed. I don't see the appeal and it doesn't flow well with the rest of the car/color theme. I don't know why, but it always looks cheap.

That's my opinion.

I have it on my car and always loved the contrast of it. I think it only looks good on certain color tho. I would say get a photoshop done to see how it looks before you do it.. One word of advice if you get it painted, don't get it gloss.. Use Semi so it's dull, you don't want it to shine.. I think it looks bad glossy.

Well we just finished this on my NBM '01 when we repainted. I think it came out very well, while I don't like it on all colors I think it looks very nice on the NBM. We used satin black on it. Oh and you can just barely tell in this pic but we have gloss black vinyl fill in letters also. It looks really nice when the light hits it because it is very subtle. I've only received positive comments on it, well at least until I read this post, but in no way do I think my car looks cheap or half assed.

Hope this helps ya,
Katie

Sounds like you are going to get a bunch of different opinions, so I don't know how helpfull we can be.

Personally, I say do it. I think it looks good, especially on the dark NBM. It is real subtle. Probably something that not a lot of people are going to notice right away. I like appearance mods like that.

If you do it, do a satin finish.

HA! I guess I should have read all this post before making mine. But this is exactly what I'm talking about. Just very subtle.

Looks good Katie.

I like it on red and orange cars only, but if you do get it, PLEASE get inserts, or people will be like "Why didn't you paint the replacement panel on your car?" which gets really annoying.

i'm in the process of doing one. been sanding/buffing/painting/sanding over and over all week. first three coats were satin black, i used semi-gloss today for the 4th coat, must say it blended well and is looking damn near complete.

All depends on the color car it's going on.....with what I have going on the satin/flat wouldn't flow well at all....

Personally, I say no on NBM.

I've also had people ask me why I had "that black thingy" on the back of my car, lol. I had red Camaro inserts in mine for about 20 minutes, but took them off. They didn't look good with the red Z28 badge, just too much red going on. I decided I liked the badge better than the letters, so the badge stayed and the letters came off. Less is more IMO.

But yeah, NBM is just such an awesome color, I don't think you really need to change anything up

That's exactly why I wouldn't do this.
Otherwise, it looks ok, depending on your color.

There are so few things you can do to 4th gens. Then someone paints a panel black (Berger)....... and they were not the first, (69-Camaro). So then, this becomes this great must do body mod. Don't do it unless you are just bored and want to unpaint something that looks beter painted.

I'd do it low gloss with stainless inserts.
