Default gauge cluster question

i'm looking into making a custom gauge cluster and i have a few questions for those of you who may know this stuff.

1. will not having the factory cluster hooked up lead to any problems with the car?

2. how do i wire the turn signals (and possibly SES) light into LEDs in the new cluster?

IM not an expert, but;

1) I really dont see how it could have any affct. Wiring to a fault is universal and the computer sends information to the guages, they act as a display, the computer doesnt wait for anything to come back. There are plenty of members on here who have totally custom gauges and ive never heard anything negative. My favorite is grndragon.

2) look in electronics, there is a sticky or at least a thread that has all pin out information for the gauge cluster for this specific reason! It will tell you which pins to tap for which function. Its pretty simple it goes by number. Find the pin for the factory turn signal and tap it and lead it to the new ones
