I think cops should have more important things to worry about than dark windows..

I got pulled over a couple summers ago in my Olds 88 by a state trooper when i was going down the interstate....he said i was speeding, which i wasnt and i was actually below the speed limit. I think he just wanted an excuse to pull me over for the tint and he also bitched about my license plate cover. I asked him how fast I was going since my radar detector never went off and he said 75 or 76, and I told him i was doing more like 68 when i looked down. He said that "my speedometer must be off due to the miles on the car and the age." I told him he was wrong and that the speedo would only be off if i changed gears or tire size, none of which I have ever done. So needless to say I ended up with a warning for speeding and a ticket for tint. I think he forgot about the plate cover.
Then about 6 months later I was coming home from work and got pulled over by another state cop for my tint...this guy got a meter out and checked it. My front windows are legal but the back doors and rear window are def not. So i got another ticket but i fought this one and got a letter from my eye doctor for my eyes being sensitive to light So we went to court and the cop never showed up. Then like 2 or 3 weeks later the same cop pulled me over but I had a letter this time. I think he just pulled me over to see if I really had a letter or not. I mean i understand cops dont like dark tint b/c they cant see in but all the SUV's and trucks come with it from the factory and if you arent driving like an idiot or anything, then why dont they just go find someone else that is really doing something illegal or wrong.

Yeah, like worrying if the person inside the car has a gun or not because they cant see inside. Dont get me wrong, I have tint too, and cant stand driving cars without it, but I can understand why they dont want cars too dark.

I see where you're coming from too. If I was a cop, I would be afraid to walk up to a dark car. However, that doesn't mean that EVERY car with tints should be pulled over for that reason. For example, "I better make this guy rip his tints off. Some time in the future I may pull this exact guy over and he'll be holding a gun inside."

And yeah Dimitri, I know what you mean, lol. I'm in Nassau though.

I got pulled over maybe 7years ago for having 5% tint. I was pulled over for not stopping at a yellow left turn(lame). Pulled off tint got it signed off and re-tinted to 5%. Usually never a prob unless the cop pulls you over for something else lol

i think as long as people roll down all their tinted windows when pulled over by a cop there is no problem. but from the cops point of view when he pulls over a car with black windows he has no idea who or what is in the car.
