Default Clay Bar

I'm going to be clay barring my car again very soon and I was wondering how people lubricate the bar? In the past I have just used soapy water for the lubricant. This time should I use the detail spray that comes with the kit?

Use the Detail spray. Soapy water will degrade the clay.

and if i had to guess the soapy water would be too lubricating and you won't pull any crap out of your paint.

A spray bottle with a few drops of soap works fine. Too much soap will tear the clay up. I use the spray that comes with the kit. After the spray is gone, I use the water/soap. I usually have clay left over after the spray is gone.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm gonna go ahead and use the spray. Think I'm pretty loaded on detail spray from Christmas....

There's a reason it comes with Detail spray. It would be cheaper for the manufacturer to use soap, if it were better they would.

orrrr its just another way for them to sell more detail spray. listen to me if ya want, dont listen if ya dont want. but water/MINIMAL soap work just as well if not better than the detail spray. ive done many cars both way, and im just tellin ya how i do them from now on because it saves money.
