Default Headlight lens help

I finally decided to do the whistler mod and that went pretty well except for the lenses. I made a trial run on sanding and clear coating an extra lens I had laying around and it came out beautiful. My right lens was not bad but I went ahead and worked on it so that they would match. My right lens was getting pretty bad though and it took quite a bit more sanding to get it cleared up. But when I shot it with the clear for some reason the clear acted like it would not stick and it looked like the paint was shrinking so the lens looked like shattered glass. I resanded it going all the way back to 150 grit to get the smoothness back then worked my way back up to 2000. The second time
I tried to paint the lens it had the same thing happen. So I just kept putting coats on it until the lines were not that noticeable. Now the lens looks like crap from less than 5 ft. away and it looks fogged from a distance. Pics are attached. Any help would be appreciated I may just have to get another lens.

what is the whistler mod? Ive been trying to debate on getting halos or sonar headlights but halos have been a problem and my dull headlights need to be fixed or replaced so people have been talking about the whistler mod but i dont know what that is.

Local - I had the same issue with the hazing of me headlight lenses. I did some research on here, and finally settled on the following:

I wet sanded each lens with 400, 800, 1600, and 2000 grit wetsand paper. Next, I got a 3 step polishing kit from Spa Depot. It was a rather time consuming process, with the total work time for each lens being around 6 or 7 hours. I'm a picky guy, though, so I wanted perfection.... lol The results were amazing! My headlights are better than new now, and maintenance is really easy.

Chris - The whistler mod is where you remove the lenses from the headlights and paint all the non-reflecting parts inside the headlight black. makes a huge appearance difference!

I bought a 3M headlight restoration kit last week and used it on my wife's g35 headlight. I only needed to do one of them because it was very yellow. I wish I had some good before and after pics to show how well this little kit works. I plan on using it on my camaro lenses that are just slightly hazed. I'd recommend this kit to anyone. It's only about $20 at autozone and it comes with sanding discs, polishing pads, and the necessary polish to get it to look great. There is a thread on here of someone that has used used it on their headlights. It takes very little work and all you need is a good drill.

Well thats just it. I went all the way down to 150 grit and worked my way back up to 2000 twice. I must have taken half the thickness of the lens off. The first two lenses I did came out beautifully but I really think this one has some sort of problem with it. Even after all the sanding the plastic had a slight discoloration to it and that is the areas where it seems the clear did not bond completely. What you see in those pics are 5 or 6 coats of clear every coat made the cracks less noticible but overall it made the lens more foggy. I have a spare lens but I really do not think I can get it sanded out there are two gashes in it about 1/8" thick. Oh well I guess I will give up on this lens and try to get the other one in a better looking condition. I was just confused as to why the paint would act like it did. Almost like oil on water.
