Stock SS hood is probably not much lighter than a stock Z hood (45lbs).
Only true weight reduction would be a pinon hood. ack.

Re: let's talk Lightweight Hoods. I've helped lift off both the stock camaro/firebird hood and then the SS/WS6 hood and must say the fibreglass hoods are about 30-35lbs lighter.
That's one of the reasons why when you go from the stock metal hoods to the fibreglass, you need to change the hoods stuts because of the weight difference.
Now I doubt there is much of a significant difference between various fibreglass hoods.

let's talk Lightweight Hoods. I have the regular SS hood that came with the car. I was wondering how heavy this hood is? What other lightweight hoods are available? Is the Ultra Z hood the same weight wise as the SS hood? Is the Ultra Z hood just as functional or better?
