Default My new hidden interior mod

Hidden under my carpet! I sprayed some Al's Sound Deadener in the car. I was hoping to quiet down my interior a little bit so my son doesn't go deaf like I am.

Car was 83db at idle and a shade over 100db at WOT. We'll see what it is when I get it all back together.

I had a broken drivers seat and was swapping in a T56 anyway, so I figured I'd just yank the rest and spray this stuff in.

Unfortunately my window tint got torn in the process, but that just gives me an excuse to go darker.

I used about 2 gallons, probably about 13-14 lbs at most.

It wasn't hard at all. The main part was taking out the interior. Taping and masking was a little time consuming, but it was really easy. I got a bit of overspray, but it cleaned right off with some denatured alcohol.

I'll try and do a write-up tomorrow.

4th Fbodies have terrible insulation. More and more people are doing insulation mods.

I just ordered 125 sq. feet of Raamat. I was going to go with the spray-on stuff but after revewing Raamat and some closed cell foam, I figured thats the way to go.

I sprayed it. I have some Second Skin matting in my shop I might use too, but I wanted to see how well this worked as is.

I have owned so many cars that had rusted floorboards from wet carpet that I wasn't about to put ANY matting down until I sprayed a rust-proofing liner in it. Especially an f-body that will eventually leak, no matter how well you take care of it!

One thing, when you reinstall the carpet, make sure you have help. I did it alone last night and the roughness of the deadener made it really tough to slide in the carpet.

I too and looking to do this, you did an awesome job. When you get it back together give us a reading at idle and WOT so we can see the difference in dB. I think I've talked myself into the spray on stuff, then maybe matting in a few trouble spots. Its difficult to pick out a good brand, everyone has different results and every seller says theirs is the best. I'm waiting to see how yours turned out, it sure looks good.
