Likewise. This is too cool not to try out... Front and back if possible

well, I dont think I have enough pictures to do an actual write up, but I have several behind the scenes pictures.
Some of my mounting materials are a little rough, but since its all in the background I think its OK. I found that hot glue does a great job of stabilizing the electronic stuff...

here is the panel, before paint. I have already cut out the letters at this point and put the red glass in place. I used putty to "mask" off the letters for painting.

after painting, here is the backside of the panel... with the refractive material and LED mounts in place.

now with the LEDs mounted:

Next are a couple pictures from the testing phase with the prototype wiring.

And then final testing with the final "black box".
And just in case someday I figure out a way to make a kit, Im keeping whats in the black box a secret.

Here are a couple pictures of the mini "Camaro" panel. I didnt take as many pictures during this part...

My wife and I are expecting our first kid any day now, so working on how to make a kit will have to be on the back burner for a little while.
But Mr.EVH and I have started kicking around ideas.
I probably have 100hours in this set up, but we are working on ways to streamline it.
No promises, but I am gonna put some serious thought into it.

Thanks!

true a neon light does get it done, back when I was in college in 02 my first attempt at a light up "CAMARO" was with a neon like the ones used in car audio set ups. and yeah, the hardest part was getting the letters cut out, then it was pretty easy from there. The buldge for the rear lift gate lock doesnt leave much room behind the "M" so the bulb had to be pretty close. This made it so that the light from the neon didnt come through the letters very uniformly.
So I had to keep working on improvements...
Next revision was a separate light behind each letter. That was ok, but I still wanted to do it better...
Then the 275 LEDs that just came on solid all the time. Now the light was nice and uniform. But I still wanted to add more... so then came the Sentry version (the first video I posted last summer)
And now the the current version with the microchip and mini dash "camaro".

I like the challenge.

I really want to make the little interior CAMARO. I'm pretty sure I could make it. I wouldnt have it do all that cool stuff yours can do. I would just have an on and off switch. What kind of plastic did you use to fill the letters?

I actually didnt fill in the letters for the interior panel. I just cut out the letters and then put some red plastic behind the panel.

good luck!

Uhh, it's a picture off the net. I'm not buying Obama anything to put on his head. Back to our regularly scheduled program. LEDs would be very very bright, but very very very very time consuming.

none the less, you are still supporting the image and using it freely on a forum that thousands of people view. my 2 cents
