Ideas for custom rear deck...
This is my idea for now... Cutting out the word "Trans Am" of cardboard and glueing it to the wood and putting headliner material over it. I tested it with scrap and just the "Tr" in this pic, what do you think? Gives the 3D look. (just a quick camera phone pic)

This was my first plan.. red fleece material with headliner material over it, cut to say "Trans Am". Im real picky, and i didnt like the way the gray foam backing on the headliner material still showed, so this one is now just hanging in my garage. Any tips on how to do this again with better results?
^This was not glued down yet...^
I have already put black carpet over the existing grayish color carpet in the t-top holder area, and i plan on covering that flap/trunk cover thing with the came headliner material once i figure out how to flatten it /fill the grooves. I'll put something on that too, maybe a phoenix...
I like the idea, keep us updated.

also, use the 3D thing only the outline of the bird would only be the outer edge. i was thinking of putting some pipe cleaners around the parts where the bird is usally raised (say based off the one on the front bumper of LT1s) but im afraid it wont be defined enough once the material is glued on.
As for the Trasn Am being tacky... take a look at the red & black one i made. that black part is pretty much the same size as the deck, just a little wider. I blew up the TA emblem on the copy machine for a templet, so it fits with 2 inches on each side of the wheel well, and even at that long it still is only about 5 inches tall, so its not everwhelming. Plus, the way that top pic is, its very subtle so i think people will like it since they will do a double take and be like "wow, thats cool" lol
Ill be making it tomarow and sunday, ill post pics as soon as its done!

And also, i did metion in the original post that i want to put the bird emblem on that flap thingy that covers the trunk area, however i am still figuring out how i can cleanly get rid of those 2 big grooves in the top of it... i may just end up putting strips of plywood in them and then a very thin sheet of wood over it, some sort of cheap veneer then do the bired on that nice claen surface. (i do lots of woodworking so its my preferred method lol)
As of right now, i have the "Trans Am" lettering all cut out and glued down to the wood and tomarow after work ill be glueing the fabric on, ill get pics up when its done hopefully in the evening.
heres the set up, just cardboard letters glued onto wood cut to fit on the rear deck

fabric on

temp install

pipe cleaners used for the extra raised edges...

This is a test to see if it works for when i do the bird in the same way on that flap trunk cover thingy

wall in the trunk where the t-top sits against

^ i also decided to spray the t-top holders black to match the carpet i put in
