Default TCS button plate

SO I did some wiring to put in a sub control **** right next to the tcs button... (below)

And for the life of me I dont remember how to get that plate to stay... Its loose and hangs out. How does it stay in place origionally?

Is there a bracket or something holding it in place that I removed? Or is there something else? I have a box or parts that I have and CANT remember... I hate mindfarts...

Wrap some electrical tape around the back of it (around the clip edges, not the trim part, in other words tape the stuff that would be IN the hole when mounted) and then push it in there.

Just like when you have a loose gauge because the hole is a little big. You wrap a layer of electrical tape around it and then stick it back in...

Thanks 6LE. I think I will try that... But I thought there was a bracket or some clips that hold it in... I will just have to try that.

Well the part it goes into is just a square hole. On the plate itself is a tab at the top that should have a metal retaining clip on it...

See... I have a big box or parts and I am not sure if I threw it out or I am just looking for the wrong thing. Would you happen to know or have a picture of what that looks like? (the metal retaining clip)

Not identical but similar to this...

Basically a piece of metal folded over with the ends tabbed out (it slides onto plastic tab)...
