Default How to buff Trans am Tail Lights?

The tail lights on my trans am have gotten a lot of swirls in them over time and I want to make them look new again. What procedure and product should I use. I do have a porter cable also.

Polish them just like you would your paint. If they're really bad and you want them to look BRAND new, sand with 1500/2000 grit then polish the hell out of them. They look great when they're done. You can also use this method on your filler panel if it's a little worn.

Yup I did this to my tail lights and center piece about 2 months ago.. still look brand new, got rid of any swirls or anything like that. I wet sanded with 1000 then 2000, then washed off with regular water to get rid of any dust left from sanding. Then used some cutting compound with a wool pad on a buffer and hit it with some machine glaze from 3M with the buffer after that. Looks like a mirror when your done. I did all of this with the lights still on the car, makes it easier to handle, just tape off where you don't want to hit and I threw a sheet over my trunk with it up so no splattering got inside my car.

i mastered the light restore game......start with 1000 grit wet then bump up to 1500 grit wet.....then use a rotary and rubbing compound and then use a polish then a nice sealant......and your good to go

I'm also going to have to try this. My passenger side tail light looks a little darker than the drivers side for some reason. Plus, my filler panel needs some love. It's got a few scuffs on it.
