lol done this back in 05 and it still works 90% of the time,,,, but sometimes it just wont release without a few hits of the button and hurrying to the back of the car to grab the hatch lol

Only trick i've learned is...hit the button twice, leave window's up and shut the door. The pressure from closing the door usually pops it up

Fixed mine a few minutes ago. Used a 1/2 x 2'3/8s. Works great.

mines still working flawless. i think replacing it all togather is the key. and i used the 3/4 spring. a lot of pressure in that bad boy.

Sooo mine has stuck a couple times, and I saw this thread today, went out and bought a spring, and this is what I saw when I tried to mess with it...

WTF? This looks nothing like the picture. There isn't even a spring on it. I'm assuming it's some type of aftermarket release motor?

Also, that little connector was unplugged. I plugged it in, as you can see in the pic. What does that connector do?

I just did this on Saturday. First I tried the brand new spring itself, but that was not enough. Next, I tried the brand new spring with another brand new spring piggy-backing it, that did not work for long. FINALLY, I put the stock spring on and piggy-backed it and its been working great since then.

These cars sure do suck for multiple reasons.... its like I find a new thing to fix every other week

Make sure to buy a spring that is NO longer than 2 inches, otherwise it won't provide enough resistance
