Default Engine bay color?

I'm going to be painting my engine bay since the motor is out and am thinking of painting it black over the body color which is GM firebird red.

what do you guys think painting the bay semi gloss black?

I think that would cause a rip in the space time continuum.

me too! if anyone has pictures that'd help too

some concerns I have is the "half painted car" look where I painted the outside of the car and forgot to paint the engine bay.

I just think black + red accents will look better...

Body color...not a fan of non-matching engine bays.

Agreed. Match the body color. Mine's going in tomorrow for paint and I'm matching the body color.

The reall question is, what do you want?
When you open the hood, do you want to see... more red or black?
Ill tell you that if you go black, the engine itself will stand out more if you have something pretty sitting there you would like to show off.

Search for some engine bay pics and decide for yourself.
or better yet, here:

I say go with the body color but before you paint it smooth out and shave the engine bay for a cleaner look.

Definately black! I would also do a satin black as mentioned above. I like the old school musclecar look, plus it would help the engine to stand out.
