Default Courtesy light wiring question.

I'm adding some lights to my interior, I'm guessing there's an easier way to wire them besides running wire from the dome light. Anyone know where to connect them under the dash? Thanks.

At the harness connector behind the drivers lower dash panel. There is a dark blue and white (feed) and a white (return). The BCM turns the lights on and off via the ground, not power so use these two wires and your additional lights will turn on and fade with the other interior lights.

Just curious? What's so difficult about running power from the dome light? I mean, I'm assuming that you're going to add several extra light sources to the interior. I added several lights under both sides of the dash, under both seats, as well as just above the rear view mirror. And all powered with just under, what electricity the stock dome light bulb needed. I mean, either way, your gonna have to run wires from here to there.

Plus 2 small LED bulbs in the stock mirror locations.

It just seemed like a less elegant solution.

You need to get a 12V hot source that is always on (there is one that you can tap into with a regular spade connector in the side fuse panel), and the ground needs to go to the body control module (BCM) ground.

Look in your owner's manual for wiring auxiliary components (it'll show you what circuits in the driver's side fuse panel do what).

As for the BCM ground, in mine, it lives under the glove box, and was a white wire. I just tapped into that for the ground. Different model years might use different color wires, but it'll be around that area.
