SS detailling tips wanted
My SS is in my garage always and it's not my daily driver so no worries about the sun killing my dash. My questions......
> Should I treat my dash, plastics, etc(being it's never been treated)? And with what product? Non-greasy, good smelling? What's the best out there?
> What is the best leather seat cleaner/conditioner on the market?
> What is the best stuff to preserve/protect the delicate rubber weatherstripping around the windoes and T-Tops? Vaseline? Silicone in a grease form or spray and what's the BEST brand?
> What's the best tire dressing for a nice, clean glossy look but is dry to the touch and will not rub off or come off easy?
Thanks in advance for any and all feedback! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
2. As for leather, keeping it clean is key. As for treating. I don't treat my leather very often. Always worried that the treatments will clog the pore of the leather, and shorten its life. When I do use leather treatment it is either Lexol, or Meguires Gold Class.
3. The weather stripping I just use a good quality tire dressing. There is also a simple product called "Total Shine" that works well on treating the weather stripping.
4. I use "Black Magic" tire gloss, thick stuff and looks real nice. Need to be careful about the stuff, "flinging" onto the paint I have heard horror stories about staining paint with some products.
You will heard tons about "Zaino". The most important is to keep things clean.
Which is the BEST.... Lexol or the Meguiare's GC?
I'm sorry but I would NEVER use the "Black Magic" tire gloss...... NEVER. Heard to many horror stories.
Anyone else have any advice for the above questions?
Thanks- <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

The tire shine that I use is a product that I got from Turtle Wax when I used to work there called "Clear Guard" but I don't think you can buy it any more. I'm still working on a 5 gallon jug I got nearly 10 years ago!!! I typically try to apply the tire shine the night before I go any where to minimise the splashing.
The leather treatment, The Meguires smells nice and doesn't make the seats feel "sticky" like the Lexol. The only thing I don't like about the Meguires is that it is a thick cream that gets stuck in the perforations of the leather, so you need to be careful.
