For real need help.. rim + curb = *@#$%& I was in philly yesterday and when i went to pull into a little space on the side of the street, i misjudged the distance and lightly rubbed the front driver side rim of my 00 WS6 on the curb.. I looked at it and about an inch or so of the lip of the rim is scratched up and is now all jagged and whatnot.. does anyone have any idea how to repair that?
I have a dremel with all kinds of attachments so I was thinking I could sand down the jagged edges and maybe buff it a little but but I really dont know.
If anyone has any advice I would seriously appriciate it

Re: For real need help.. rim + curb = *@#$%& Don't know if your rims are chrome or painted but for the painted, GM has touch up kits that include a bottle of clear coat. Get the silver kit and after you smooth it out you can retouch the silver then clear coat it.

Re: For real need help.. rim + curb = *@#$%& The fixrim site looks like a good idea but i cant put my car out of commission that long. I took my dremel and lightly sanded down the messed up area, then took a very light grade grinding stone and followed it up with the polishing wheel. It looks alot better then it did but you can still see the damaged area (but not if your a few feet away). My rims were a little dirty so i cleaned em up and over all its not horrible but still it bugs the **** out of me. Its like the whole rim is shiny but that one area on the lip is dull and a little bit white.
Im going to try to get some clear coat for it to touch up that little area but overall I will just deal with it until I buy new rims or replace these

Re: For real need help.. rim + curb = *@#$%& If your rims are aluminum like mine.. i took off my clear coat... but if u stil got yours then like the other guys said i need the touch up kit.. but i think if u got no clear coat use sand paper and the file.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: For real need help.. rim + curb = *@#$%& Its just aluminum. All you have to do it polish it out. The hard part is dismounting the tire. First remove tire from rim to get to it easy. Then get some sand paper. say around 300 grit. and sand bad area. Sand untill rash is removed. You will want to sand a larce area of the lip like 1/4 to 1/2 so it wont be uneven... Now just step up to about a 600 grit. Sand again intil smooth...then do 800-1000 grit. Sand until smooth. then 1500 Grit Sand until smooth. (shiny by now huh?) Want more? try 2000 grit.... Expect about 2-3 hours or less. Use a Block to sand with and be careful not to hit the rest of the rim and mark it up or you will have to fix it also.... When your done Polish it all up with something like Never Dull polish. This works for your MAF, throtle body, ... If you dont have to take a bad area out (curb mark) just start with 6-800 or so.
