I think that you should paint the intake the black that everything else is. RIght now it doesn't have the shine as the other blacks.
Other then that it looks awesome. I wish I could afford to do something liek that.

Steve that engine is sweet!!!
What Tony said about the chrome plated plastic intkake sounds like it would fit in nicely on your powerplant.
Keep up the awesome work.
P.S. Who does the rebuild and chroming of LS1 alternators for $85?

1. its not the polished pump.. its the satin alum finish, I wanted to go with chrome highlights and the satin pump looks great with the alum block (the tstat housing is chrome).
2. I dont have the card for the place that chromes PS pumps, alts and starters (and rebuilds them) but I will get it later on and post up.. looks sweet
3. Remember that the firewall and inner fenders will be blue also so having the intake blue would be "too much of a good think".. I would either paint it silver (alum) or the smokey silver (350Z color) that the stripes are going to be.
Keep in mind the intake was just sat on there for the pics.. the bolts are still at the chrome shop.
I got the turn one pulley and it powder painted blue then the face of it polished out.. came out SWEET! .. I also picked up the polished radiator today.
I also ordered up the new MTI billet throttle body.. at least im making progress

I like it as is. Looks pretty . Does the picture makes the different shades of black look a little off from what they are in person? Are they closer in appearance when looking face to face (or face to engine)
One question Steve - why aren't you relocating the coil packs? I would think it would look cool to make it look like a old skool SBC where you can actually see the heads and valve covers.

the blacks are prettty close and look good togther.. i didnt want to chrome everything (ive done that before) so I wanted a more "layered" look to the engine.. At this point I didnt want to relocate the coils.. and I plan on running some custom airbrushed FRC's -- later on down the line (if i get bored) I will relocate the coils and get some custom milled valve covers.. Besides If i wanted it to look like an old-school SBC i would have just put one in

The "smokey silver" color is the same as the darker silver on the new 350Z's.. the valve covers are a dark metallic charcole powder print..
Yea, i like the idea of hte smokey silver intake also.. just need to get busy and sand down the "circles"..
The car is going to be painted blue pearl (the color is the same as the brackets).. the Z stripes will be in the smokey silver color and the metal parts of the dash will be in a darker charcoal (like spiral grey)..
