Todd, I feel your pain!! lol

Keep in mind.. while polishing EVERYTHING would look amazing it would be a nightmare to maintain.. polishing the water pump off the car is one thing.. keeping it shiny (getting in all the crevices) on the car would be very hard.. I find the same problem with polishing a Holley intake.. how the hell are you going to get too the back to maintain it?? Just something to keep in mind

Im presently kicking myself for not dropping my throttle cable brackets (hooks to intake) at the chrome shop.. I need to get a core part

The hot ticket would be to get a water pump for a 98 car since the pulley is removable and have the pulley chromed.. still dont know what to do about the power steering pump pulley since A. its plastic and B. its pressed on

Rob and I are working on having a billet tensioner pully made..

Oh, Todd.. may I suggest that you get the Katech solid tensioner.. its VERY high quality and look much better than the spring tensioner from the factory.. comes annodized black but you could have it polished or annodized another color

And chrome hose ends (Earls "slip fit") REALLY make the factory hoses look great.. them GM pinch clamps (some in the lovely rust color) look like hell! lol

There is no end.. no hope for us afflicted with this disease.. Id go to therapy but I spend all my $$ on the car

Nice. Looks awesome!
I'm going to be doing a whole lot of engine bay clean up this weekend. My question is:

Do the factory stickers peal off easy? I want to keep them all since my car is the 2002 LE. Maybe put them in a binder, etc.

Thanks,
Jon

Many of the decals are a somewhat of a tamper resistant type, and effectively destroy themselves as you attemp to remove them. Especially all the white background ones. Now most of the decals have part numbers on them and I have had pretty good luck buying them from the GM parts department. It does take quite a bit of work to get them off, and you have to be carefull around the painted areas, since it is not clear coated and not a very good finish to begin with. Take your time and be careful. Good Luck!

Hey Andy,

I really did not mean to butt in on your post with my ideas on my car. Your pics got me thinking about modding. It looked like it was pretty much done so I wanted to get some ideas rolling for next spring I am glad Steven chimed in.

Never become speechless when having an opportunity to spend another persons money.

Steven...

Thank you very much for your input.

Intake...
The holley intake may be able to be chromed. Before I found the company I am currently using, that company said it could be done. Getting the chrome to stick in the corners may be a problem. I will sit down with the person I am now using and get the facts. I need to find out if it can be chromed perfectly. Polishing maintence is a pain.

Pulleys...
After all of the belt removals I have gone through, (I removed my supercharger twice, putting a smaller pulley on for more boost) I never looked that close at each part. I will have to look more closely as November nears. Street Performance probably has something for that pressed on pulley situation.

Katech solid tensioner is nice. Let me know what you and Rob end up with your tensioner set up.

I guess every part needs to be looked at and evaluate for better looks and performance.

This year I watched carefully at people looking at cars in shows and took note of the following:

1. The engine is the first place they go to look. It needs to be perfect for a vote.

2. The interior is second.

3. Under the back where my mirrors are angled at my exhaust.

4. Hood graphics are not the best place to put money, when it is always up no one sees it.

Just babling, thanks for you input and help guys!

Work is really starting to get busy, my board time is going to become less and less

Time for a new post for ideas!!

Todd, don't get a Holly intake. There's a place that chromes the GM ones and they are sweeeeet.

The mod costs around a dollar to make and not only allows you to see the top of the hood from the front of the car but also shades you engine area (harsh sunlight brings out ANY flaws)..

Oh, Todd.. you have polished you hood struts right??

Mark or anyone, I have seen that intake, is chroming plastic durable etc. I call them 6 mo or so ago and really did not get a straight answer, I may not understand the process they were explaining. It is sweet.

Andy post a pic of the hood opener holder thinger... or anyone.

Work is killing me, I hate when that happens.

Another great idea from Steve! I'll try to post better pics tonight.

Chroming plastic, has been around for years. The hood scoop grille on my SS is chromed, one year later still looks good.
