Default T/A seats headrest removal?

Has anyone actually taken off the whole headrest? (not the headrest fabric/leather covers) My passenger seat headrest pulls right off the seat instead of ratcheting itself higher or lower. I think some parts inside have broken.

Is there an easy fix???

Remove the back of the seat & you can visually see the retaining mechanism.
Yea, seems that something may have come apart in there.

Thanks PontiacFan!

Have you personally remove the seat back? I'm only asking because I don't want to start taking the seatback apart only to find out there's more involved.

Yea, easy work. No issue loosing parts or things flying out, ...
The headrests do have a retaining mechanism in there to prevent them from coming all the way out.
Anyone with some mechanical aptitude can do this in a matter of a few minutes.
If ya need parts, check a local salvage yard, or some of the other online F-body salvage businesses. Or your local GM dealer if necessary.

Maybe you'll get lucky & the parts are still there & simply 'fell out of place'.

I have no instructions on how to take apart the seat so I wanted to make sure I won't run into a part that will prevent re-assembly once I get started. Hopefully it's something I can fix without ordering parts.

Likely the lil "C like clip" fell off the head rest "rods" for a better word, the clips are what stops the headrest(s) from coming all the way out of the seat. Easy to work on, just be patient.

they also keep the headrests in the raised position. i had my seats redone last year and the guy didn't put the headrests in and told me to just pop them back in when i got home. when i did that, the headrests wouldn't stay up. he also forgot to give me back the clips. luckily he still had them. unfortunately i didn't find out about the clips needing to be in until after the seats were back in the car so i had to remove the back cover while sitting in the back seat of the car to get the clips put back in.

(lol that pic makes it look like it's missing a head)
